My last name is pronounced “Driz’-ga” (it is Polish), but everyone calls me Dr. Carri.
I was born and raised in Chicago. In 1995, after graduating from the National College of Chiropractic, I moved to Ottawa with my husband, Dr. Benoit Chagnon. I started my practice shortly after.
From a young age, I always knew I wanted to be in health care, but never dreamed it would eventually take me to Canada. I love treating patients, especially the challenge of complex cases. I see myself kind of like a CSI detective: my role is to put all the pieces of the puzzle together to “solve” your case so that you can get your health back on track.
Unfortunately, real life is not at all like TV, and I learned quickly that I didn’t have all the answers to people’s health problems. Sure, lots of people got better from my treatments, but there were always some who didn’t and that would frustrate the heck out of me. I knew I was missing something so I started taking lots of extra courses beyond my formal education to find the answers, and the more courses I did, the more answers I got, and the more patients got better. In fact, I owe a debt of gratitude to those patients that didn’t get better. Thank you. It is because of you that I started an intense search for the answers. This led me on a fantastic journey of discovering all the different facets of health care and the complexities of the human body.
I love learning, and being the nerd that I am, I decided to go back to school after being in practice for 15 years. This is where I fell in love with naturopathic medicine and acupuncture. In 2011, I graduated valedictorian of my class from the National University of Health Sciences in Chicago, with a degree in naturopathic medicine. I treat a lot of different conditions, but my main areas of special interest are: hormonal problems, healthy weight loss, low energy, and digestive problems.
There you go. Now you know a little bit about me. I still don’t have all the answers, but I do have a lot more of them.
